Hi James
What a fab weekend for you, not quite the result we were all hoping for you in the last race, but still a good result. Our hearts missed a beat on that overtaking move unfortunate to get pushed off. Still dads smile looked very large on the telly. Have good winter and hope to see you next season.

Message for James
I was at knockhill at the weekend and endured the atrocious weather for some spectacular racing. Before the rains came and just before you went for a visit to the sandpit with no steering, I managed to get this shot of you showing some of your stunt driving skills, just thought you might like a copy, I think it's a nice shot, it is compressed for e-mail, the original is 2gb

Dear James

I am Nick Ponting (14) and currently race in karts. This weekend I have been offered a drive in The Ginetta Junior Championship at Pembrey as I am looking to move up to the Ginetta's Next Season. I have accepted the offer but have never driven Pembrey Before. We are not going to be alone, an instructor who races in The AVO Ginetta Championship is going to be there with us but just wanted some of you re ideas about the track and about how i should prepare????
Look foward to hearing from you
Nick

Hi Nick,
Of course the best way to get to grips with a new track is to drive round it(!), i.e. a testing session or by participating in a track day. However, I appreciate that often lack of time or funds can prevent this from being possible. So...

Firstly, if you haven't already done so, it may be helpful to refer to a map of the circuit (ref. www.barc.net/pembrey.htm) to at least familiarise yourself with the names of the corners.

Pembrey is a very quick track. You need to focus on one corner in particular: Brooklands Hairpin. Brooklands leads onto a very long straight, so its important to be fast out of the corner to ensure that you carry maximum speed down the straight. After Brooklands, there is a right kink (Woodlands) which should be taken flat. Woodlands is followed by Honda which is a very quick right hand corner, again this leads into a very long straight at the end of which is a tight hairpin right (Hatchets). Break late into this corner, but be careful not to outbreak yourself. Be sure to be fast out of hatchets.

Finally, you should get the most out of the instructor that is going to be with you by making sure that you ask him lots of questions and take full advantage of his knowledge. Obviously, its quite hard to give advice over an email, but I hope this is what you were looking for and is of some help!

Good Luck!
James

Hi
i own a Seat Leon and love the look of the Seat race car, is there any chance i can get a hold of old parts that arent wanted after races?
Thanks for your time,
Darren

Hi Darren,
I have made enquiries regarding old race parts and have been informed by the team that no parts can be released. After each race meeting all redundant parts return to the SEAT workshop and remain "in quarantine". This is to prevent the design of parts from potentially being scrutinised by "the competition". So unfortunately I can't help you out on that one, but its always worth an ask!
Cheers

Hi James
Let's all give u a round of applause now because there are no racers out there who are better than u. Nobody in the british touring cars are as good as u. Nobody in the british touring cars even stand a chance.

Hello James
My name is Liam and I would love it if I could be a driver when I grow up. I like to play football as well and my Dad says this will help with getting fit. How fit do you have to be to be a racing driver. What football team do you support? How old were you when you started driving?
Liam, aged 9

Hi Liam
It's great to hear that you want to be a racing driver when you grow up. Like many drivers, I started my racing career in karts when I was 13 and progressed from there. I would recommend karting as a starting point for any young aspiring driver.

Maintaining a high level of fitness is important to any driver, and is something I've been focusing on this year. Three races on one day is hard work and takes a lot of stamina, especially as it can get pretty hot in the car! I have got a personal trainer who advises me on my fitness and diet regime and when I go to the gym I make sure I combine cardiovascular work, e.g. running on the treadmill, with upper body strength.

And finally, I am a huge Manchester United fan and have been for many years, although unfortunately I don't get to see them play as often as I would like. C'mon the Reds!

James
