Pickford proves a point

Almost a year after his last race in British Touring Cars James Pickford proved a point with 2nd place on his guest debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup this weekend at Knockhill Circuit, Scotland.

The man from Macclesfield went into the weekend having not raced a rear wheel drive car for five years and had only two hours of testing to acclimatise, after his 11th-hour call-up to represent the sponsor Total Amber with IN2RACING.  In damp conditions he amazed the paddock with 3rd place on the grid in qualifying having never driven a Porsche race-car prior to the test.

In true Pickford style he raced with great skill to finish on the podium in 2nd behind the Champion Elect and 2005 Carrera Cup Champion after 32 laps, in treacherous rainy conditions.

Pickford is currently in discussions to compete in the last two remaining British Touring Car rounds, starting at Brands Hatch in late September.
