SEAT Sport UK happy after successful
Silverstone test

SEAT Sport UK today completed a highly successful three day test at Silverstone circuit, with team drivers Jason Plato, James Pickford and Luke Hines covering around 100 laps each per day in their Toledo Cupras without a problem.

The British Touring Car Championship team concentrated on giving each driver as much track time as possible, experimenting with qualifying and race set-up and analysing the new Dunlop control slick tyre. The test was run on the longer Silverstone International Circuit, not the National Circuit which will host the penultimate BTCC race weekend on September 17/18. Even so, the best unofficial lap time recorded by each SEAT driver was almost identical.

Pickford said: “I spent a lot of time on the circuit getting to know the Toledo Cupra a little better, and after three full days of running I’m very happy. We made a lot of changes to the set-up and it was good to see how certain changes affect the car’s handling. You are very limited to the amount of changes you can make to the Leon in the SEAT Cupra Championship, so it was a real eye-opener coming from that to see what you can do with the Toledo Cupra. I really enjoyed the test and I feel very comfortable driving the Toledo.”

Malcolm Swetnam, Race Team Manager, said: “There was very little down time, with each driver enjoying three full days of running and completing around one hundred laps per day without a problem. The track temperature on the final day was fourteen degrees Centigrade, which is as good as you can expect at this time of year. It enabled us to get a considerable understanding of the new Dunlop slick tyres, as well as allowing us to work on general set-up. It was three very good days which ran without incident.”
