Pickford wins in Total Amber Porsche

A truncated racing season finished in fine style at Silverstone circuit last weekend, as Pickford reminded the touring car paddock of his undeniable abilities and marked his third Porsche event of the season with a dominant win, pole position and two fastest laps.

Pickford, offered a 2006 racing lifeline by In2Racing, long term sponsor Naturally Best and car sponsor, Total Amber; Core Team, made the best of the his opportunity, proving from his first damp test day and 2nd place in his first race that he would soon be the driver to beat in the Porsche Championship.

Pole in qualifying at Silverstone was lost by 3/100ths of a second, but after a wheel spinning induced poor start to race one, Pickford‚s ultimate pace and consistency saw him haul in the race leaders, passing them for the lead before disappearing into the distance for his first race victory since winning the SEAT Cupra Championship in 2004.

Pole position for race two only resulted in a second place after lap one as Harvey got the jump at the start. Pickford quickly was on Harvey‚s tail, posting fastest lap after fastest lap as Harvey desperately defended his position. As Harvey backed Pickford up in the hope that the attentions of Champion Faulkner behind would relieve the pressure, Pickford touched the back of Harvey‚s car, bursting a radiator and forcing retirement.

With a comfortable race win, two fastest laps and a dominant show of professional race driving over the weekend, whether in Porsche or touring cars, Pickford will be a favourite for honours.
